Q: How do I find the car after landing?

We send the plate number in advance, and our manager meets you in arrivals with a name sign. Paperwork takes about 15 minutes in the car park.

Q: What documents do I need to rent a car at the airport?

A category B licence plus an International Driving Permit, and a photo of your passport. Driver 21+ with at least 1 year of driving. See licences in Thailand.

Q: Do you keep my passport as a deposit?

Never. The deposit is cash, 5,000–7,000 ฿ depending on the car, returned on the day you hand it back.

Q: Is a child seat available?

Yes, a child seat or booster for the whole rental is from 400 ฿ — tell us the child’s age when booking. More in Phuket with kids by car.

Q: What does the insurance cover?

Full Type 1 (first-class) insurance is included: damage to the car, third parties and passengers. The excess (your maximum if an accident is your fault) starts at 3,000 ฿ and is shown on each car’s page. Details: insurance explained.

Q: What is the minimum rental?

3 days. Longer is cheaper: 7+ days −5%, 30+ days −15%.

Q: Can I drive to Krabi or Khao Lak?

Yes, by agreement with the manager and for a small surcharge — mention your route when booking. Ideas: by car to Phang Nga, Krabi and Khao Lak.

Car from the airport or a taxi?

The airport is in Mai Khao in the north of the island, and the southern beaches are a long ride away. The official airport limousine (Phuket Airport Limousine) has fixed prices: 800 ฿ to Patong and 1,000 ฿ to Kata or Karon for a car of up to 3 people (operator’s website, checked 28 Oct 2026).

Our car costs 800 ฿ for airport delivery plus from 1,000 ฿ a day. If all you need is the ride to the hotel and back, a taxi is cheaper. If you plan to get around the island for at least a few days, the car pays off — we did the maths for a week in car rental or Grab.
