Who it suits
The sportiest scooter in the budget lineup: a sporty riding position, a responsive 155cc engine and sharp handling. Take this if you ride solo, like an aggressive style, and want to enjoy the switchbacks, not just get from A to B. For calm two-up riding, the PCX or NMAX suit better.
Kata — Karon switchback
The road past Karon Viewpoint is a string of corners with a view of three beaches at once. The lightweight Aerox leans in eagerly; remember the 60km/h limit in built-up areas and morning police checkpoints (7:30-10am) at major junctions.
Freedom Beach, south Patong
Freedom Beach is just 5 minutes from Patong, but the descent is steep and narrow. The nimble Aerox handles approaches like this easily, and it takes up half a parking space — handy in evening Patong, where spots are always scarce.
Empty morning roads
Head out before 8am, before traffic wakes up: the Rawai — Nai Harn — Promthep loop on an empty road is the best thing you can do on the Aerox. In rain, remember: brakes here are CBS, not ABS, so it's wiser to wait out the first minutes of a downpour.
