Carnival Magic is an evening theme park in Kamala with a parade of boats and costumed floats, a "kingdom of lights" lit by millions of bulbs, and a small fairground with rides. It opened in 2022 next to the older Phuket FantaSea and quickly became one of the island's top evening programs for families.
One key thing people often miss: the park isn't open daily — only Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, 17:30–23:30. The parade show itself starts at 20:30 and runs about 45 minutes, with gates to the stands opening at 20:00. Always check the park's website before you go — on other days, its neighbor Phuket FantaSea runs instead.
What's inside: parade, lights, rides
The main event is the River Carnival Parade Show: boats, giant puppets, and performers in Thai carnival style, moving across the water and around the stands. Afterward, guests can wander the "kingdom of lights" — glowing installations, photo spots, and a small fairground with rides and food.
The buffet-dinner ticket gives access to the tables from 17:30 to 20:30, before the parade starts — handy for eating early and not losing time after the show. For better seats, you can upgrade to Paradium seating closer to the water for an extra 350 ฿ per person. For comparison, a combo ticket for both Carnival Magic and Phuket FantaSea (if you visit both parks on different days) costs 3,700 ฿ for an adult.
Getting there: by bike and by car
From Patong, head north on Road 4030 over the hill toward Kamala — about 9 km and 20–25 minutes by bike, factoring in the switchback and evening traffic. It's just 10 minutes from Kamala beach to the park, about 15 from Surin, and 20–25 from Bang Tao. Check current rental models for this trip in the bike catalog.
From Chalong or Rawai, it's the opposite end of the island: plan on 45–50 minutes via the bypass through Phuket Town. Car travel time is about the same, though rain or rush hour can add 10–15 minutes. From Kata and Karon it's about 25–35 minutes, and about 30 minutes (23 km) from the airport. Traveling as a group by car is more comfortable, and bulky items like a stroller fit better in a trunk than under a scooter seat.
Parking & entry
Parking at Carnival Magic is free and spacious — it fits about 750 cars, and there's usually room even on Saturdays. It's a couple of minutes' walk from the lot to the entrance.
You can buy tickets on-site, but booking online in advance is often cheaper and definitely faster — no queueing right before the show. Bring cash: some food and souvenir stalls don't take cards.
Tips: timing, crowds, what to bring
The park is built for a leisurely evening — allow 2–3 hours for the fair, dinner, parade, and a walk through the lights.
- Arrive by 19:00–19:30 to grab dinner and claim seats in the stands before the 20:30 parade
- Pick Monday or Wednesday if you dislike crowds — Saturdays get noticeably busier
- Cameras and tripods aren't allowed into the parade stadium — check them into a locker at the entrance
- Bring a light jacket or raincoat in rainy season (May–October) — evening downpours aren't rare here
- Wear comfortable closed shoes — the park is large, with lots of walking on uneven paths

For an evening trip with kids, a maxi-scooter with ABS works best — the Honda PCX 160 ABS (2024) at 400 ฿/day comes with two helmets (kids' sizes available), and ABS really helps on the hill descent in the dark or after rain. For a bigger group or little ones, a car is more relaxing: the 7-seat Toyota Veloz is 1,800 ฿/day, with a free car seat, so you don't have to worry about the ride back on two wheels in the dark.
